As we edge near the end of this year, we can’t help but think of how our holidays will be affected. No matter what hardships we face, we will find a way to come together- whether it is social distanced or through video calls, we can still be together. We know that it may be difficult, so we and local businesses want to help.

This week’s sweepstakes winner, Yvonne Sholdra, resident of San Bernardino has taken this time of uncertainty to recognize what is truly important in life.

“Right before the pandemic started, I learned I needed hip surgery and my husband needed shoulder surgery, but all surgeries were put on hold,” Sholdra said.

Sholdra and her husband have had to put their surgeries on hold for almost a year now, making Sholdra less mobile and forcing her to retire. Sholdra’s husband was also unable to fully return to work, which has unfortunately drastically changed their income, completely shifting their daily life.

“None of us should take what we have for granted anymore because it can be gone in a second,” Sholdra said.

“We should be grateful for all our blessings. Especially our families and friends, because they might not be there tomorrow.”

Sholdra read about the contest in the San Bernardino City News and took a chance and decided to enter.

“I have rarely won anything,” Sholdra said. “I am so grateful and extremely excited. Thank you, S.B. City News.”

For fun, Sholdra loves to sew, craft and go to the movies with her grandchildren. As this week’s winner she has won a free dinner for two from Vicky’s Restaurant in San Bernardino, which she mentioned is in her local city close to her home.

Vicky’s Restaurant has a variety of crowd favorites that will more than please anyone’s tastebuds! They serve complete breakfast, lunch and dinner menus.

The breakfast menu ranges from unforgettable classics like country fried steak and eggs, Huevos Rancheros, egg burritos, omelets, breakfast sandwiches, French toast, and pancakes.

The lunch menu includes over 15 different types of sandwiches, over 13 types of crowd-favorite mouth-watering burgers, specialty hot dogs, burritos, tacos, quesadillas and a variety of fresh salads.

Vicky’s dinner menu satisfies every member of the family and makes a perfect family meal with dishes from Grilled Chicken, fish, pork loin chops, shrimp, steak sandwiches and fried chicken.

“At Vicky's they don't just have burgers but also delicious milkshakes and also a range of fantastic desserts to round off your meal, they are worth the calories,” Vicky’s Restaurant said.

“Chosen as the official burger at several major venues, to be enjoyed by the fans, it is sure to please the crowd at your house too. Why don’t you come and give us a try?”
