This week, the FDA requested that Pfizer-BioNTech submit an amendment to their emergency use authorization of the company’s COVID-19 vaccine to include the youngest of America’s children ages 6 months old to 4 years old.
The application for emergency use would include the first two doses of an expected three-dose regimen.
As with all the other COVID-19 vaccines, the process will include a review by federal regulators and the Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup before it would become available in San Bernardino County.
For now, COVID-19 vaccines are only available for everyone ages 5 and older.
Once the County has information on where and how parents can obtain these vaccines for their children, we will update our readers here, on our website at sbcovid19.com and the County’s social media accounts.
Parents are also encouraged to check with their child’s pediatric medical provider.
