This past Saturday April 24, 2021 residents from your City of Grand Terrace gathered together to volunteer, to help in keeping the city beautiful, and to celebrate Earth Day. Co-hosted by the City of Grand Terrace and the Foundation of Grand Terrace, the volunteers assisted in picking up trash, painting walls, and planting trees.
The day started with a check in at the Grocery Outlet parking lot where volunteers were served hot coffee and yummy doughnuts while receiving their assigned stations for the day. Some chose to take on some major clean up by grabbing some bags and gloves and picking up trash. Others chose to do some freshening up on Barton Rd and Mt. Vernon by painting the arterials walls. Then, those volunteers with the green thumbs went on with a city employee to plant some beautiful trees on Mt. Vernon and Main St..
The City provided transportation to all of the volunteers by using the shuttles to get them to their stations. Everyone was treated to a lunch that was provided by Woody’s Classic Grill that took place at Grand Terrace Fitness Park.
Even with the pandemic in our lives, that did not falter the dedication of the City or its residents for this special day. So many residents showed up on this day to help in keeping the City beautiful. Not only the dedicated adults and city employees but many of our young community attended to help as well! With many of the boys and girls created colorful posters for Earth Day and painting rocks for the long standing rock tradition in Grand Terrace.
