A citywide traffic enforcement operation netted two arrests and 133 citations on Monday, Feb. 9. The San Bernardino City Police Department conducted the citywide traffic enforcement from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day, focusing on violations noted as primary collision factors in several collisions, a release issued by the police department said. The goal of the operation was to "reduce the number of persons killed and injured in traffic collisions," the release stated. In all, 148 vehicles were stopped, with two arrested for warrants; 110 citations were issued for miscellaneous traffic violations, seven citations written for drivers with suspended or revoked licenses and 16 citations written to unlicensed drivers. Police also impounded 30 cars, 12 of those vehicles impounded for 30 days. Funding for the operation was provided by a grant from the California Office on Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
