The city of Grand Terrace will be celebrating it’s 40th anniversary this year and along with that there are a couple of projects that are in development. Over the last few months we have been covering the progress of the Grand Terrace dog park. From the initial idea all the up to it’s grand opening.

The long-awaited opening of the dog park welcomed residents from our local areas and even those in the neighboring cities. This new park created a great spot for people and their pets to come together.

Along with the dog park, there are a few other projects on the list and in progress. One of them being the Veterans Wall of Freedom. The Veterans Wall of Freedom welcomes all veterans to honor them on  a plaque that is placed on the wall.

This year Veterans Freedom Park, where the wall resides, will be undergoing renovations and receive a remodel.  The remodel will feature designs that will help park enhancements.

Next on the list of projects for the city is the future skate park of Grand Terrace. This skate park will be located off of Mt. Vernon Ave and City Center Dr. It will be a place where the skaters and athletes of the city have a place to come and use the parks features for the benefits. The design for the park is currently in progress.

The City of Grand Terrace is also working with CJUSD on providing rehabilitation to the pool that currently resides at Terrace Hills Middle School. Once the renovations have been made the city will then have access to the pool during the non-school hours.

Along with the pool, Terrace Hills Middle School will be receiving a revitalized soccer field. According to the cities website, “The school district will rehab the field (appropriating about $225,000) in the new fiscal year. The City will be required to maintain the field and the expense (a percentage) for maintenance of the field will be borne by the soccer league.”

Lastly, but certainly not least, the city is working on a the site for the Blue Mountain Nature Trail. The city wants to use the money (if granted) from the grant application to develop a trail head. This will include restrooms, off-street parking, and a trail.

This year will be a great year for the City of Grand Terrace. It has many projects on its list and it checking them off and making progress to enhance the city.
