Recently, CJUSD and the City of Colton, held their 4th annual college and career fair. It was open for everyone as all ages walked through the doors of the Gonzales Community Center to partake in this fun and educational experience. The event lasted two hours in the evening, but it was jam packed with workshops, lectures, and organizations that filled the gymnasium.
Some of their workshops consisted of volunteers going over how one can pay for college, another was assisting others in applying for financial aid, and there were some that demonstrated medical and emergency service careers. There was something for everyone! Organizations for the medical and emergency services such as CARE Pathway, H.E.A.L., C.O.P.S., and GTHS Explorers were all in attendance.
The gymnasium was the real eye catcher of the night. It was filled from wall to wall with booths and tables of different educational and career services that held the interests of many. Colleges and universities such as La Sierra, Azusa Pacific, UCLA, U of R, and CRY-ROP, were set up and ready to speak with young eager minds and give out the vital information about what was needed to join such esteemed schools. Along with the schools, there were plenty of organizations to be found. Such as, the San Bernardino County District Attorney, ARMC, Colton Fire Department, Garner Holt Productions, City News Group, and many of the armed forces branches.
The evening went on and the questions and answers were endless. With over 3,000 people in attendance, the buzz never stopped during the event. People came, mingled with organizations, took part in workshops, and even received free goodies from the various booths. It was a great and successful event for eager graduates and for younger minds alike.
