REDLANDS >> A young Inland Empire resident has won a State Certificate of Excellence for scoring the top mark in California on the Level 1 Piano examination of The Royal Conservatory Music Program. Meilynn Poma, 11, is one of two residents from Redlands to earn a Certificate of Excellence this year. Currently, Poma participates in The Royal Conservatory Music Program where she takes music lessons with San Bernardino-based teacher Erika Ramos. Every academic year, Preparatory A and B and Levels 1 through 10 students of the Music Development Program are awarded Certificates of Excellence. Qualifying students must score at least 80 percent on their examination and must have completed the co-requisite theory requirements for their respective level and discipline. Students who win achieve the highest standard of excellence in their state of residence. Music teachers across the nation involved in the Music Development Program who strive to raise the next generation of artists are also recognized through Certificates of Excellence. All students and teachers in the United States are welcome to get involved with The Royal Conservatory Music Program. The program raises learners from beginning to advanced levels with a high standard of excellence that is nationally recognized through success stories like Poma’s. If interested in participating, visit www.MusicDevelopmentProgram.org.
