Police Apprehend Man Suspected of Armed Robbery

A patrol officer detained a 22-year-old man identified as Colton resident Jonathan Drew at an apartment complex located on Santo Antonio Drive on Aug. 19. Drew is suspected of robbing and assaulting an unidentified male victim on May 22, according to a release issued by the Colton Police Department. Drew allegedly approached the victim while he was standing in front of an apartment complex in the 1000 block of Santo Antonio, where Drew proceeded to rob the victim of his smartphone. During the robbery, Drew “pistol-whipped” the victim, according to the release, and the gun fired as a result. The “victim escaped injury and the suspect then fled on foot,” the release states. Drew has been booked into jail on robbery and three active warrants. Those with further information are asked to contact Det. R. Wilson at 909-370-5000.
