The City of Moreno Valley continues to install Military Appreciation Banners that display residents’ names, photos, and branches of service, in support of local military personnel and to instill a sense of patriotism and pride throughout the community. The program honors those men and women who have served in the past or are currently serving in the United States or overseas. Though applications may be submitted at any time, the city is currently accepting banner and paver installation orders from the community for installation by the Veterans Day Ceremony. Qualifications for a banner include: Honorees must be active duty military service personnel who are residents of Moreno Valley, who have immediate family residing in Moreno Valley, or who have graduated from a Moreno Valley high school. Applications are due by Oct. 8 for a Veterans Day installation. The military banner program is partially sponsored by the Moreno Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee. As a result of this contribution, the total cost remaining for a banner to be created and installed on a city street light pole is $100. The Veteran’s Military Program Pavers are located around the memorial and are inscribed with the name of military veterans and active duty service personnel and the branch of service. The nominee must be currently serving or have served in the US military or with a US ally, and the cost is $200. To recognize someone worthy of this honor, please contact the city’s Parks and Community Services Department at 951-413-3701 or visit www.moval.org to access more information and the application.
