San Bernardino Valley College men’s soccer sophomore defender Juan Maldonado (Mammoth Lakes H.S.) and freshman midfielder Jonathan Monroy (Fontana A.B. Miller) have both signed letters of intent to play with Kansas Wesleyan University next season. Maldonado started in 18 games and was named second team All-Foothill Conference for 2014, where he was a key defender throughout the season, helping to secure five shut-outs. Under the tutelage of ninth-year coach Josh Brown, SBVC men's soccer ended the 2014 regular season having won seven games. Coach Brown had six players named to the All-Conference team, finishing the season with an overall record of 7-8-5 and a 3-2-3 Foothill Conference record. SBVC men's soccer also ended the 2013 season going further than any team had gone in program history, hosting a Southern California Finals match. The team ended the regular season having won 13 games, on their way to their first back-to-back-to-back ever Playoff berth. Coach Brown had six players named to the All-Conference team in the 2013 season, finishing the season with an overall record of 13-4-6 and a 4-2-2 Foothill Conference record. Monroy played his freshmen campaign in 2013 and was a key component in the middle for a team that reached the CCCAA SoCal Finals for the first time in program history. Entering the playoffs, number two seeded SBVC was given a first round bye and in the second round, hosted the number ten seeded Oxnard Condors (16-6-1) a team that was riding a 12 game winning streak and had shutout their last seven opponents, but all of that did not matter as SBVC blanked Oxnard, 2-0. Kansas Wesleyan University is located in Salina, Kansas. The Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes play at Bissell Field, and the team is coached by second-year coach Phillip Bohn. In the 2014 season, the Coyotes went 8-0-1 in conference play, with an overall record of 15-4-2. The Coyotes lost in the opening round of the NAIA men's soccer National Championship. KWU is in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference of NAIA.
