Voice of the People: Looking Forward to 2014

By Jerry Almendarez, Superintendent, Colton Joint Unified School District
December 23, 2013 at 04:08pm. Views: 62

With 2013 almost over, it’s time for a well-deserved break. I want to take a moment to thank each of the Colton Joint Unified School District's employees for their hard work. This is a busy time with a lot of changes and a lot of challenges. Every school site and every department has crossed hurdles and celebrated triumphs. As we navigate Common Core, the new Smarter Balanced Assessments, California’s radical changes to education funding and the aftereffects of years of recession, we know that the coming year will continue to test us in many ways. Thankfully, we have the best team of professionals here in CJUSD. We continue to serve our students well, keeping their education and welfare first. I thank them for that. On behalf of the Board of Education and Executive Cabinet, I wish them a happy, restful Winter Break and a joyful beginning to 2014. I look forward to the new year and everything we will achieve together.
