West Valley Water District (WVWD) customers will not be affected by repair work on a State Water Project pipeline, set for April 23-28.
Repairs will be made to the Rialto Pipeline, which is owned by Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) and carries State Water Project supplies west from Devil Canyon in San Bernardino County to Metropolitan's Live Oak Reservoir at La Verne.
“As a water agency, we are unique in the region as we are much less reliant on imported water than some of our neighbors,” says Robert Christman, WVWD General Manager. “Because of our diverse water supply, we are able to better protect our customers. We’re proud to be able to continue to deliver great service that regularly exceeds our customers’ expectations.”
WVWD’s water is sourced almost entirely from local groundwater basins and surface water from the San Bernardino Mountains. The District purchases just 14 percent of its supply from the State Water Project through its wholesaler. Because its supply is largely independent, WVWD customers can rest assured their services will not be impacted by MWD’s upcoming repairs.
