“Dia de los Muertos” comes to San Bernardino on Sunday, October 20, at 2:30 p.m. at the Sturges Center for the Fine Arts, 780 N. E St., San Bernardino.  A multigenerational celebration of remembrance to honor our ancestors that will include traditional songs and colorful folklorico dances. The theater doors open at 2:00 p.m. – arrive early to enjoy the beautiful decorations both inside and outside the theater.  Become immersed in the celebration by dressing in your finest “calavera or catrina” costume.

The renowned Mariachi Internacional de Mexico de Francisco J. Jara, of Pancho Villa Restaurant, will perform songs that will evoke fond childhood memories of family gatherings and traditions.  The audience will want to sing along to those songs that remind them of parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Ballet Folklorico Cultural de San Bernardino, under the direction of Gloria Chavez, will surely delight with their mastery as they gracefully perform traditional folklorico dances in their colorful regional costumes.

The next generation of musicians, the Mariachi Youth Academy, will impress the audience with their musicianship and performance of Dia de Los Muertos songs.  Sinfonia President Maria Saenz states, “Dia de los Muertos reminds us to pay tribute to our departed loved ones and keep them in our hearts.  And this concert will inspire us to cherish their memories.”

Across the world, Dia de los Muertos is celebrated to honor our departed families.  As such, the show will include a special photographic presentation to honor our own departed loved ones. If you would like to participate in this artistic expression of family, please call (951) 235-4195, (909) 744-2176, or the Sinfonia office at (909) 884-3228.
