This past week at a Special Meeting held on November 28, 2017, the Grand Terrace City Council interviewed and selected a new council member to fill the vacancy left by Councilmember Brian Reinarz, who resigned in October of this year.  The council had a strong pool of candidates to choose from, and after interviewing each of the candidates and reviewing their extensive backgrounds, the council selected Kenneth Henderson a 33 year resident of Grand Terrace.  Ken was a former city manager for the City of Grand Terrace, and wanted to once again provide his public sector expertise and leadership capabilities for the residents of Grand Terrace.  Twenty-nine of his 37 years in the public sector was involved with managing different municipalities at the level of department head or above.  Ken has a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science.  During his stint as city manager for the city, he had a significant role in the preparation, adoption and approval of the Vision 2030 for the city.  When this vacancy on the council came up, Ken says, “I felt it was my duty to submit my application to assist the current council on the follow through of the Vision 2030 plan, and support the overall goals for the community set forth by the wishes of earlier councils.  I look forward to serving this community and appreciate the support shown by this council in selecting me for this new role.”  Ken was a previous Chairman for the Inland Manpower Association Youth Advisory Committee and was the City of Grand Terrace Budget Advisory Committee Chair person, and he seems to be well-suited for this new position in government.
