The Women’s Giving Circle of The Community Foundation awarded its inaugural $15,000 grant to Purple Hearts, an organization supporting women affected by domestic violence. The grant award was announced during a check presentation ceremony on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Jammin’ Bread in Riverside.

The Women’s Giving Circle, a special fund of The Community Foundation, makes grants to nonprofits whose programs and services promote economic security for women and their families in the Inland Region.

“The membership is proud to support Purple Hearts and their mission of helping women and their children rebuild their lives from domestic violence,” said Michelle Decker, President and CEO of The Community Foundation. “Through the power of collective giving, these amazing women have a real chance to make an impact here in Inland Southern California.”

“Because we have had great success in reducing the recidivism rate, this grant will allow us to expand and ultimately develop a pilot program that could be scalable with shelters across the country,” said Gail Guge, Executive Director of Purple Hearts.

In September 2017, The Community Foundation launched the Women’s Giving Circle and is building a community of women philanthropists and creating lasting impact to address the needs of women and their families in the Inland region.
