Last Sunday, Colton Community Services presented a Concert in the Park at Fleming Park in downtown Colton featuring El Marachi Los Halcones De Jalisco and Old School Mobile DJ Carlos Alba Jr. The mix of the music and the beautiful weather drew a crowd of about 350 people to enjoy the event. Community Services provided a Kid’s Zone complete with a bounce house, food and craft vendors and information about various services available in Colton. Residents Gary and Mary Ann Rodriguez, who have been attending the Concerts in the Park series for years, came out to enjoy the music and an ice cold lime and strawberry raspada as Lisa Sandoval, the City Librarian, manned the Community Services booth nearby. Andrea Bradley, 8, of San Bernardino, came to the park with her aunt Clara Duran, and got her portrait drawn by Ray Zamorano with Canvas of Colors while she was there. Bradley’s sister and friend followed suit and the two compared their pictures after the ink portraits were completed. Lisa Villa set up a very maroon and gold booth for the Colton Pride Group working to promote school spirit and city pride throughout Colton. Part of the CRG effort included bringing in the Colton High School mascots Buzz and Honey, who flew in and around the park to greet concert goers.
