A small celebration commemorating three decades of the city's incorporation is scheduled in Moreno Valley early next month.
At 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3 at the Conference and Recreation Center near City Hall, city leaders will join local educators, business owners, community groups and residents in celebrating 30 years of incorporation.
Commemorative coins will be available for attendees and an anniversary cake will also be part of the celebration, according to city officials.
Canyon Springs High School, Moreno Valley College, the Girl and Boy Scouts and the city's Time for Tots participants will provide entertainment at the event, which will conclude with the lighting of the "M" on Box Springs Mountain with the help of the "M" Landmark Improvement Project community group, launching the holiday season in Moreno Valley.
The upcoming celebration will also recognize community contributions made by various community service organizations, and "will be recognized for their roles as the thread in the fabric of community life in Moreno Valley," according to a release issued by the city.
Non-profit, community service organizations based in Moreno Valley with 10 or more years of service will be honored. Non-profit groups meeting these parameters should contact the city manager's office at shannap@moval.org for more information.
The Conference and Recreation Center is located at 14075 Frederick Street.
