Construction Update on Ronald McDonald House Renovation

As many community members are aware of the ongoing Ronald McDonald House project in Loma Linda, the completion is expected to be around this time next year according to Mike Kovack, Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House of Charities of Southern California, Loma Linda House. The construction is right on schedule. "It's looking like a year from where we are now, so Fall of 2016," he explained. Since the House opened in September of 1996, it has helped serve over 18,000 families. It currently can and does support over 24 families every night. The House also had a Hotel program and throughout the years, the House has also took care of families by sending them to hotel rooms when the House was completely full. Kovack previously mentioned that the Hotel program was only a "band-aid on the problem" and although it was difficult to come to the decision, the House cut the Hotel program. However, the idea to raise funds to expand the House was born. This expansion project includes doubling the size of the house with its current size of 13,000 square feet and 21 guest rooms. When the project is complete, the House will be 42,000 square feet and will have 54 guest rooms including a "day salon" that can serve as a relaxation station for families as well as a community room. "Thank you to those who have supported the expansion project," Kovack shared. "There’s still time to leave an imprint on this project!" It's not too late to show support in this life-changing project of expansion of the Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House.
