Professional expertise, advanced technology, and full range of diagnostic services. They all came together in one location when Loma Linda University Medical Center opened the Women’s Imaging Center, Oct. 22. But the center’s capabilities and offerings are only the beginning. “When you enter the new Women’s Imaging Center you might think you made a mistake,” said Beverly Rigsby, MBA, service line director for women’s services. “Instead of an imaging center, you’ve entered a spa.” The stylish décor is an Asian-themed spa and meant to create an environment of calm for women having to endure a stressful time—whether it’s a standard screening exam or a follow-up test for possible cancer diagnoses. Another unique component of the center is the presence of an RN navigator/manager to help patients with the breast diagnostic process at Loma Linda University Health. “We realized the benefits of having a single point of contact to coordinate all the diagnostic radiology testing needed for an anxious patient waiting for a diagnosis,” said Rigsby. This role has been filled by Linda Koh, RN, BA, MS. She has already started to coordinate care for patients and their referring physicians. The center offers screenings and diagnostic exams, both breast and pelvic ultrasounds and all different kinds of biopsies from stereotactic to the latest in 3D tomo biopsies. The center will also offer DEXA scans (to measure bone density) and has the capability to provide the most accurate form of body mass imaging for athletes or bariatric patients looking to track their body fat loss progress. The Women’s Imaging Center is located in suite 1200 of the Faculty Medical Offices, 11370 Anderson St, Loma Linda. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 909-558-5533.
