LOMA LINDA>> The City of Loma Linda Chamber of Commerce celebrated a grand opening last week of a restaurant that specializes in a vegan diet. The restaurant is Vegan Fresh located at 24950 Redlands Blvd, Suite K at the SW corner of Redlands Blvd. and Tippecanoe. The owners Virginia and Grant McAuley decided to open the restaurant after several years of preparing this type of food for people who wanted a healthy option from other lean cuisines in the marketplace. Veganism is a type of vegetarian diet that excludes meat, dairy products, and eggs that are derived from animals. Some vegans also do not eat foods that are processed utilizing animal products, such as refined white sugar and some wines. A vegan can either be a person who follows this type of eating or the diet itself. Other animal products that a vegan may exclude from their way of life are leather, wool, fur, and silk in clothing and upholstery. Mrs. McAuley is a nutritionist specializing in the preparation of healthy vegan meals. Both want you to visit their new restaurant to try out the cuisine and see if the vegan diet is the right choice for you. Please come in and ask either Grant or Virginia which special vegan recipes would satisfy your taste buds. ‘Vegan Fresh’ is the proper name for this business as everything is prepared as you want it once you enter the premises. The Chamber is excited about this restaurant opening in the City and is looking forward to showcasing other businesses who decide to make Loma Linda their home.
