The City of Colton’s Community Services Department is gearing up to host a “faboolous” Halloween Festival. The festival will take place Oct. 31—Halloween—and will provide a variety of games and entertainment for children of all ages at the Gonzales Community Center, 670 Colton Ave. Children and their families will enjoy a variety of free activities between 4 and 7 p.m., including games and arts and crafts. Entertainment will go on throughout the event, including a Halloween costume contest, which is free for all children to participate in. Have trick-or-treat bags ready for lots of goodies, or be ready to make a trick-or-treat bag at the craft table in the event. The Halloween event has hosted well over 1,000 children and their families in past years. Many community organizations and small businesses also participate in the Halloween Event by decorating and hosting their own game booths. Several entertainment acts keep the festival upbeat, with performances including those by the community gymnastics class, karate class, and a dance performance by the community Mexicali Folklórico group. The event is capped off by a costume contest, where winners receive extra candy and special prizes.
