Grand Terrace Titans were looking to rebound with a win this week to give them momentum for league season games starting next week. Citrus Valley Blackhawks came into the game wanting to continue their dominance of destroying every team in their path and to stay undefeated heading into league games.
The Titans started the game with the ball but a quick three and out ended the drive with a punt.
Citrus Valley Quarterback (QB) Dylan Wheatley #7 passed to the wide open Wide Receiver (WR) Ty’Jhon Belton #5 which he ran to the end zone for a 55-yard touchdown with no one catching him to put the game’s first points up on the board 7-0.
Citrus Valley (CV) then drove down the field once again faking the pass and going with an RB draw for 20-yards for a touchdown by Running Back Kameron Brantley #24 for a second straight drive starting the game and made the lead 14-0 half way thru the first quarter. The Blackhawks were showing why they have shutout 2 of their first 4 opponents by stopping Grand Terrace (GT) for a third straight 3 and out to start the game.
Jordan Garcia-Frye #23 was able to brake off a run up the middle for a huge 23-yard run down to the left corner for the touchdown for a huge lead at the end of the 1st quarter 21-0 with the Blackhawks up.
Grand Terrace played tough defense wreaking havoc on the QB then Phoenyx Torres #42 caught the fumble from the QB in the air as he ran and took it 35-yards to the house to start up the scoring for GT being down 21-7.
Citrus Valley drove down the field to score by QB Wheatley passing it to WR Belton on a crossing route 17-yard touchdown catch changing the score to 28-7 Citrus Valley with the lead.
Grand Terrace Titans looked to answer back with a touchdown of their own on their next drive, but CV Alexander Toailoa #44 had other plans and intercepted the ball taking it back for 20-yards and got tackled at the 30-yard line of GT.
Citrus Valley ran the ball getting a first down making it 3rd and 4 on the 9-yard line. Blackhawks used their bread and butter just handing the ball off to Garcia-Frye running to the end zone up the middle for a 9-yard touchdown making CV’s dominating run game extending the lead to 34-7 after a blocked extra point with 4 minutes to play before halftime.
After another GT punt by GT Gavin Huxhold #6, Citrus Valley is in hurry up mode to score another touchdown to make a statement before halftime. A 15-yard run by CV Garcia-Frye for a first down started the drive nicely. Then a strong catch and run by Jordan Scott #6 carrying a pile of football players another 5-yards after the catch for 21-yards. Next play, QB Wheatley's 14-yard pass and catch touchdown to Scott hit GT with a knockout punch with Citrus Valley being up 41-7 at half.
The Blackhawks came out of halftime with a huge lead 41-7 and the game plan that took off their starters and gave backups some valuable playing experience. Grand Terrace Titans came out with a different looking defense to work on what they will run next week as they start league play.
QB Dylan Wheatley made a quick pass left to Colby Grames #47 who ran untouched 30-yards for another receiving touchdown that made the lead 48-7.
As Citrus Valley took possession on GT’s 40-yard line. CV Garcia-Frye ran the ball twice for two first downs, after a holding call Citrus Valley had a 1st down and 25 on the 26-yard line. On fourth down on the 28 Citrus Valley’s kicker Colby Grames #47 missed the field goal slightly left of the goal post.
Grand Terrace Titans with the ball on their own 19-yard line couldn’t get anything going turning over the ball with Mekhi Lewis #12 throwing a pick to CV’s Cornerback Gary Johnson #1.
Grand Terrace Titans forced another punt that gave their team some confidence but it wasn’t enough while the clock ran out on them ending the game with a loss 48-7. Making Grand Terrace 0-5 heading into League games.
