The Moreno Valley Parks and Community Services Department held their free Easter Egg Hunt this past Saturday, open to all community members. Begining at 9 a.m. at Sunnymead Park on Perris Boulevard in Moreno Valley, children between the ages 2 through 12 years of age were able to participate in the hunt. Each baseball field at Sunnymead Park was designated for a certain age group to have a fair egg hunt for all the children, no matter their ages. Although each designated area was separate by age group, each baseball field was filled with eager kids ready to hunt for the eggs. The field designated for children between the ages of 2 and 3 were included the childrens' parents. Although their parents were right by their side helping them hunt for eggs, adults were not allowed to actually pick up any of the eggs for their children. They could only simply watch, take pictures and help without interfering. Community member Sarah McGowan brought her son Nicholas in hopes of getting some yummy treats. “This is our third time coming to the Egg hunt,” she said. “We have so much fun.” Yolanda McGowan, Nicholas’ grandmother, said, “This is my first time coming with them… I’m so excited.” “We’re looking forward to coming next year. I have my second grandchild on the way,” she added. All the eggs were filled with candy. However, there were limited special eggs hidden in the field, as well. Those who were lucky enough to find them were able to claim a large basket of goodies at the booth set up outside of their field. After the hunt, everyone was welcome to attend a breakfast for only $8 across the street at the senior center.
