University Lauded as "Best for Vets"

The CSUSB College of Business and Public Administration’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) program has been named as one of Military Times Magazine's (MTM) “Best for Vets” higher learning institutions for the second year in a row. Recently, MTM published its “Best for Vets: Business Schools 2014” list, ranking CSUSB’s MBA program number 22 out of 140 respondents. The ranking was based on the university’s efforts to assist veterans, active-duty service members and their families in pursuing a college education. “We are so proud that our MBA program has been named 'Best for Vets' by MTM,” said Lawrence Rose, dean of CSUSB’s College of Business and Public Administration. “It is indeed a great honor to receive this designation." Schools were evaluated in categories including university culture, student support, academic outcomes, quality of education, academic policies, cost and financial aid. “To create the rankings we scored schools’ survey responses to both the business schools survey and parts of the (broader) colleges and universities survey based on what veterans have told us is important to them,” said George Altman, staff writer for MTM. In addition, CSUSB was recently recognized as a top military-friendly university by both G.I. Jobs Magazine and Military Advanced Education Magazine. CSUSB Veterans Success Center opened its doors in May 2012, with the mission of providing support services focused on the special needs and requirements of today's military veterans, service members and dependents. The center provides guidance, mentorship and referrals that are specific to student veterans’ needs. It offers tutors, new student orientation sessions and a monthly lecture series focused on topics relevant to military personnel, both active and retired. To learn more about programs for veterans at CSUSB, visit the Military/Veterans Corner website at http://veterans.csusb.edu/ or call Marci Daniels, director of the Veterans Success Center, at (909) 537-5195.

A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.
