SBVC Men’s Cross Country finishes 13th at the Stanford Invitational

SAN BERNARDINO>> San Bernardino Valley College made the more than 400-mile journey to Stanford University for their annual Cross Country Invitational at Stanford Golf Course, where the team finished 13th overall on the 8k course. SBVC finished with 330 points, finishing 20 points ahead of Fresno Pacific, but California Polytechnic State University won the event with 384 points total. Sophomore Luis Ortega, from Fontana Jurupa Hills, continued to impress the field, as he was the top two year runner, finishing 18 spots ahead of the nearest Community College participant. Ortega grabbed a 22nd place finish with a time of 24:21.90. Collecting a solid top 60 finish was sophomore David Hughes from Redlands East Valley with a time of 25:14.60, finishing in 58th place and sophomore Erubey Camacho from Colton, made it in with a time of 25:44.20, winning 69th place. Sophomore Christian Sharp, from Redlands East Valley, finished in 83rd place with a time of 26:21.00 and wrapping up the top five for SBVC was sophomore Josue Lopez, from Jurupa Valley Rubidoux, cleared the finish line with a time of 26:47.70, winnig 98th place. Freshman John Hernandez, from Moreno Valley Canyon Springs, finished 108th on the afternoon for SBVC. Coach Ratigan stated in an email from the event, “Ran better as a team than last year. Luis 24:21, David 25:14 and Erubey 25:45. First ever 8k for David and Erubey. We have work to do, (but I am) happy with the results.”
