66ers Make Donation to Local Little Leagues

The Inland Empire 66ers recently made a donation to area little leagues. Each year the California League hands out fines for the violation of rules governed by Minor League Baseball and the California League itself. The money collected for on-field incidents, such as ejections and suspensions from players and staff, are pooled together and equally dispersed amongst the 10 California League teams to be donated to a charity of their choice. This year the 66ers made a $1,066 donation to California’s District 43 Little League, whose boundaries include the cities of San Bernardino, Highland, Redlands and Lake Arrowhead mountain communities servicing around 1,500 players. “The 66ers are committed to baseball in the community and helping in any way we can to ensure local youth have the necessary equipment and uniforms to succeed,” said Joe Hudson, general manager of the 66ers. “You never know when one of them will be a future 66er.” “We thank the 66ers for their continued support,” said Kevin McGuire, District 43’s administrator. “The money will be spent to educate and train managers, coaches, parents and volunteers that support the little league program. This will help ensure the youth of District 43 Little League baseball and softball will have the best experience in their young lives to become good adults using baseball and softball as the vehicle to learn how to deal with life as a whole.” The 66ers return to action to defend their California League title when they visit the High Desert Mavericks on April 3. The team's home opener will occur a week later on April 10 when they welcome the Mavericks to San Manuel Stadium.
