On Saturday, May 7, Nick Cataldo will be teaching the course “Sojourn Through The San Bernardino Valley: 1776 To The Present”, offered through Cal State San Bernardino's Office of Extended Education. Those attending will be provided with a perfect opportunity to discover some of the rich heritage of the San Bernardino Valley and the important role it has played in Southern California for more than two centuries. So take this sojourn back in time and visit some of the historic sites associated with the arrival of the Spanish explorers, missionary priests, Mexican rancheros, Mormon colonists, citrus growers, the railroads, and the military. This one-day field trip will involve a vehicle caravan, some walking, and visiting many historical “hidden treasures.” There will be an optional no-host breakfast at Denny’s at 5475 Palm Avenue in San Bernardino at 7 a.m. to discuss the day’s events. The class will start at 8 a.m. for those preferring to skip breakfast. The course—which has a fee of $83 for no credit and $140 for one unit credit -- will run from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Those interested must call the office of extended Education at (909) 537--5976 for space availability. Registration deadline is April 29.
