Who ya Gonna Call? The Plumber, Electrician or Other Trades Professionals

It may be a global economy, but there are certain critically important jobs that will never get shipped overseas – something that becomes abundantly clear when your power goes out or the plumbing backs up or springs a leak. Plumbers, electricians and other construction trades professionals are essential for the continued smooth operation and growth of any community. With that fact in mind, 11 Career Technical Education students from Canyon Springs High School recently spent a Saturday in Anaheim at the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Craft Championships, an annual, regional competition among professional plumbers and electricians. The winners of the event are moving on to the national competition, but the real winners may have been the students, who came away from the trip with a clearer idea of how they can follow their career choices, make a good living doing what they love, and help keep America running smoothly all at the same time.
