Hike to the Top Draws More Than 70 Hikers

More than 70 hikers – including a 2-year-old who was along for the ride on her dad’s back - participated in the July 29 hike to Hidden Springs as part of the City’s Hike to the Top series.

The Moreno Valley Recreational Trails Board’s Hike to the Top program offers six free guided hikes throughout the year. The 3.3-mile round trip hike to Hidden Springs was led by Gilbert Brooks, and Margie and Fred Breitkreuz. Hikers were accompanied by Recreational Trail Board members Vivian Joneswhye-Brock and Sarah Martinez along with City staff and Emergency Response Force volunteers who were on hand to provide water and first aid. The hikes provide residents with the opportunity to explore the City’s trail system, get in shape, and meet new people – all while being guided by experienced hikers. The next hike in the series is the Hike to Lake Perris on September 23, 2017.

This challenging 7.2-mile round trip hike starts at 7:30 a.m. at the front parking lot of Ridgecrest Elementary School, 28500 John F. Kennedy Drive, Moreno Valley. Our last hike of the year is Hike to Box Springs M Trail on October 28, 2017.  This is a difficult 4.8-mile hike which has elevation changes.  Hikers will meet at 7:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the west side of campus at Canyon Springs High School, 23100 Cougar Canyon Drive, Moreno Valley.

Please contact the Parks Maintenance Division on 951. 413-3703 with any questions.
