Moreno Valley City Councilwoman Dr. Carla J. Thornton (Dist. 2) has been appointed Vice Chair of the League of California Cities Housing, Community and Economic Development Policy Committee, one of seven League policy committees.

The League of California Cities is California's leading association of city officials who work together to enhance their knowledge and skills, exchange information, and combine resources so that they may influence policy decisions that affect cities.

Dr. Thornton has also been appointed as a member of the Executive Committee for the League's Riverside County Regional Division, one of 16 regional divisions.

"I'm proud to help represent Moreno Valley within the League of California Cities," said Thornton. "And housing and economic development are two of my highest priorities as a member of the City Council."

"As the 21st largest City in California, it's appropriate that we have a seat at the League's policy-making table," said Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley. "Councilwoman Thornton will be a strong advocate for our City and our residents."
