East Valley Water District has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. “East Valley Water District is committed to a transparent operation and keeping its customers well informed,” said James Morales, Jr., board chairman. “We are very proud to have received this award for the third consecutive year along with this being our first time receiving recognition for both the Annual Budget and CAFR for the same fiscal year.” The Government Finance Officers Association encourages local governments to go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles to prepare the CAFR that support a spirit of transparency and full disclosure. This document has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program to clearly communicate the District’s financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR. “Each year the District goes to great lengths to prepare an annual budget to serve as a work plan and a CAFR to show the actual results for the operation and financial condition of a given year,” said John Mura General Manager/CEO. “This certificate of achievement demonstrates accountability and responsibility in our fiscal management practices.”
