GHTS Athlete of the Week: Kody Sedillo - Titan Mascot

At just 17 years old, Grand Terrace High School Junior Kody Sedillo is already leaving his mark both on and off the field. Balancing academic and school activities with ease, Kody maintains an impressive 3.4 GPA while proudly serving as the Titan Mascot, the heartbeat of school spirit during Friday Night Lights.

Kody’s decision to become the school mascot came from his desire to experience high school spirit in a unique way and build new friendships. For him, being the Titan mascot is more than just putting on the costume, it also represents friendship, pride, and being an upstanding student for his peers and himself.

Working alongside the Titan Pep Squad, Kody helps energize the crowd with encouraging cheer and hand movements. His favorite part of Friday Night Lights is being on the field, hyping up Titan Nation and cheering on the GTHS football team to victory.

To prepare before games, Kody listens to his favorite songs to get pumped up and joins his squad in a circle of encouragement before taking on the football field.

Though often overlooked, the role of mascot requires athleticism, and Kody embraces that side of the job. Learning routines, practicing in costume, and keeping his energy high takes up a great deal of work and stamina.

He also makes it a priority to interact with Titan Nation by giving high fives, posing for pictures, or simply spreading positivity in the stands.

Outside of football season, Kody enjoys playing guitar and plans to try out for the swimming team. He was also a member of the Boy Scouts for four years, an experience that strengthened his leadership and community involvement.

His biggest motivator is his mom, who he says has always supported him and encouraged him to stay active in the community.

Join our Titan Nation at a future football game to support and make sure to say hello and take a photo with Titan Mascot, who’s kind of a big deal on campus!

Looking ahead, Kody plans to attend college and pursue a career in forensic science. His message to fellow Titans is simple but inspiring: “Have fun and enjoy these years…never look back.”

With his pride, dedication, and school spirit, there’s no doubt that this Titan has a bright future ahead of him. The best is yet to come for Kody Sedillo.
