Recently, Professional Development Specialist Dr. Kenneth Miralles joined surrounding districts at Moreno Valley College to work on creating paths to college for Moreno Valley Unified’s 33,200 students. The K12/MVC English Collaborative exists to “create equitable opportunities for historically underrepresented and underserved communities" and to "support students’ successful college transition and completion.”

Miralles presented at the Collaborative last week. “MVUSD’s mission is to make sure our students are college and career ready. I wanted to share MVUSD’s efforts in those areas including dual enrollment courses, college 'kick-off' days, writing rubrics, and other assessments.”

Professional Development Specialist Brian Bates, also an instructor at a local college, said, “I’ve seen first-hand that students benefit when high school and college educators talk together about supporting students.”

Professional Development Specialists, including Miralles and Bates, are looking forward to joining the Collaborative’s next meeting on November 9th titled "Creating Equitable Opportunities for Student Access and Success.”

MVUSD is proud to have these dedicated educators working every day to improve.
