Patriotism, community spirit, and smiling faces lined the streets as thousands gathered for the City of Moreno Valley's annual 4th of July Parade. This year's theme, "Stars, Stripes, and Stories: 250 Years of Freedom," celebrated America's 250th anniversary and brought together residents, local organizations, public safety agencies, businesses, and community groups for a morning of festive celebration.
Leading the parade was the Moreno Valley Sheriff's Department Motor Team, with Sergeant Jared Hansen and the highly skilled motorcycle deputies kicking off the procession. As they made their way along the parade route, deputies paused to hand out sheriff's stickers to children while parade participants tossed candy, creating forever memories for families gathered along the streets.
Community organizations proudly showcased their creativity by decorating vehicles, bicycles, floats, and other parade entries in patriotic shades of red, white, and blue. Spectators waved American flags, cheered for participants, and celebrated the nation's rich history while embracing the strong sense of community that defines Moreno Valley.
The celebration was joined by Mayor Ulises Cabrera and members of the Moreno Valley City Council, including Mayor Pro Tem Erlan Gonzalez and Councilmembers Edward "Ed" Delgado, and Cheylynda Barnard, along with Riverside County Fifth District Supervisor Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez who greeted residents and participated in the annual hometown tradition.
The parade served as a reminder that Independence Day is more than fireworks and festivities, it is an opportunity for neighbors to come together, honor the nation's history, and celebrate the freedoms that unite the community.
A special thank you goes to everyone who helped make this year's Independence Day celebration one to remember. For those who were unable to attend, a full video of the parade is available on the City of Moreno Valley Facebook page, where hosts Patty Yhuit and Melissa McClain enthusiastically introduced each parade participant throughout the event.
