The Entrepreneurship Institute of San Bernardino, administered by the San Bernardino Community College District (SBCCD) through its Economic Development and Corporate Training (EDCT) Division, graduated its first class on Nov. 20. Coming from across the Inland Empire, the 18 who have completed the program and received certificates are Taffette Boykins, San Bernardino; Keith Butler, San Bernardino; Barbara Collins, San Bernardino; Christopher Fleming, San Bernardino; Jerole Goines, Redlands; Murray (Brett) Hall, Redlands; Kevin Johnson, Fontana; Agustin Ledezma, Jr., San Bernardino; Alonzo Lewis, Highland; Mark Montoya, Yucaipa; Robert Moreno, Colton; John Oloteo, Colton; Ryan Salamon, Redlands; Lauren Sanders, San Bernardino; Karimulla Sha Jahangir (Jay) Shaik, Arcadia; Linda Subero, Rialto; Eric Torres, San Bernardino; and Jesus Torres, San Bernardino. Led by EDCT CEO Matthew Isaac, Ph.D.; Bruce Underwood, MBA, CFO/Partner of B2B Staffing Services, Inc. and San Bernardino Valley College business instructor; and Professor Michael Assumma, MBA, chair of the Business Department at San Bernardino Valley College, the Entrepreneurship Institute of San Bernardino is a six course program (each course is three or four sessions) leading to a certificate endorsed by the San Bernardino Community College District. At $395, the courses are scheduled on two evenings per week. The next session begins Jan. 15 and the sessions will be held at the EDCT, 114 S. Del Rosa Drive, in San Bernardino. Chancellor Bruce Baron said, “We are very proud of this first group of committed learners who have completed our rigorous training. These trailblazers have gained the skills needed to succeed in their new business ventures. This institute offers participants the opportunity, for an extraordinarily low cost, to learn from and be mentored by experts. Through the Entrepreneurship Institute, the San Bernardino Community College District is helping develop new jobs and businesses for our community.” Isaac noted, “The Entrepreneurship Institute is designed to provide the aspiring entrepreneur with the nuts and bolts of business ownership, business creation and business operation, using real world terms and examples. Entrepreneurs are major drivers of economic growth in the United States. The Small Business Administration recently noted that about 90 percent of new businesses fail. To be a successful business owner, an entrepreneur needs training, mentoring and guidance. The Entrepreneurship Institute provides that.” Additional information on the Jan. 15 session of the Entrepreneurship Institute of San Bernardino is available by calling 909-382-4037. Seating in the program is limited but there are still spaces available.
