On Oct. 17, the City of Colton Code Enforcement and Housing Advisory Appeals Board (CEAHAAB) voted to prohibit a property owner from owning dogs in the city after a two-year-old child died from a vicious dog attack on the property, according to a release issued by the Colton Police Department. On Sept. 23, the Colton Police Department responded to the 700 block of W. Citrus Avenue after receiving a report of a child being a victim of a dog attack. The child was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he later passed away from his injuries. The investigation led to the arrests of the child's grandmother and uncle for Child Endangerment. Animal Control also responded to the scene and took custody of the dogs. CEAHAAB declared the named individuals as being prohibited from owning, possessing, controlling and having custody of any dog at the property or any other address within the city limits of Colton for a period of three years, the release states. The adjudication of the dogs will be handled by the City of San Bernardino Animal Shelter.
