Veterans Get Free, Reduced Fares

Reduced transit fees are available for military veterans who use Riverside Transit Agency and Pass Transit services. Veterans can now take advantage of reduced fares on Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) routes with a veteran ID card for $2 at the YWCA Riverside County (every second Tuesday of the month) at 8172 Magnolia Ave., Riverside, 92504 from 9 a.m. to noon, and at the RTA Riverside Offices, 1825 Third St., Riverside, 92571. Pictures will be taken here and the cards will be mailed. In order to be issued a veterans ID card, veteran riders must bring with them a copy of the DD-214 and a government issued photo ID. Veterans may also present a valid VA issued ID card or U.S. Uniformed Services ID card indicating a retired status to receive the discounted fare. Active duty military must wear the appropriate uniform or present a valid U.S. Uniformed Services ID card indicating active status to ride for free. For more information, veterans may call RTA at 951-565-5002 or dial 2-1-1. Military veterans who use Beaumont Pass Transit may also use reduced fare services offered, with a valid V.A. Hospital Veteran ID or a City-issued veteran ID card, which can be obtained for free at The Beaumont Civic Center, 550 E. Sixth St., Beaumont, 92223. Please bring the DD-214 and a government issued photo ID. Active military duty may ride Beaumont Pass Transit for free by presenting a valid U.S. Uniformed Services ID card indicating active status or by wearing the appropriate uniform.
