Last month, Better Living & Wellness outreach held Community in Unity, a community based event that exposed residents to some of their local resources.

The event gave everyone who attended a chance to learn about being healthy and having fun at the same time.

At the event was personal trainer, Robert Briones, of Fit Fearless Training. He helped teach kids and their parents about staying healthy at home and outside.

Community resources such as hygiene kits, job information were also made available to the public.

The event, put on by Pastor John Braxton and his wife Kathy Braxton, was hailed a success. Over three hundred people were in attendance.

The event was supported by the Church of Fire and Christ and all were welcome.

"What a wonderful time," Pastor Braxton said. He then went on to thank Dr. Gonzales and Unicare Health Care for collaborating with CIU.

Unicare currently has a clinic on 308 N. La Cadena in Colton and offer resources for dental, vision, medical, behavior and health. During the event, they gave free medical exams, along with Central City, a mobile unit that comes with two registered nurses.

Pastor Braxton also thanked Robert Briones and N.D. Luisa S., owner of Pro-Tif.

CIU events take place every fourth Saturday of the month. For more information on the next CIU outreach program contact Pastor John Braxton at 951-400-3298.
