The City's Waste and Recycling Program is sponsoring a Used Oil Filter Exchange and Recycling event on Nov. 8 at O'Reilly Auto Parts located at 24021 Alessandro Boulevard, from 9 a.m. to noon Moreno Valley residents will receive a new, free oil filter in exchange for a used oil filter. Through events like Used Oil Filter Exchange and Recycling the city is raising community awareness and promoting the importance of recycling hazardous waste. Since 1987 it has been illegal to dispose of used oil sewers, drainage systems, surface or ground waters, water courses or marine waters, by domestic incineration, onto the land or in the trash. This event is one of several Keep Moreno Valley Beautiful (KMVB) initiatives to provide residents with a free and environmentally-safe way to properly recycle used oil and/or dispose of other household hazardous waste. There will be a limit of two filters per person. Identification documentation or a utility bill will be used for verification purposes. This event is funded through grant funds from the California State Department of Resources, Recovery, and Recycling. For additional information, please contact the Waste and Recycling Program at 951-413-3109.
