Young Applicants Wanted for Emerging Leaders Council

The City of Moreno Valley is now accepting applications for the Emerging Leaders Council (ELC). The appointees shall be bona fide residents of the City of Moreno Valley at the time of appointment and throughout their incumbencies and will serve without compensation for designated terms. In addition, the appointee shall attend at least one meeting prior to the appointment. All ELC members shall be high school or college students aged 17-25. The following positions need to be filled: Emerging Leaders Council and Alternate Members for two terms through May 31, 2017. The purpose of the Emerging Leaders Council is to identify high school or college students with a desire and potential to become community leaders, educate and engage young adults in local government, and focus efforts on service to the Moreno Valley community. The Emerging Leaders Council was established as a standing committee with two-year terms by Resolution 2014-30. Resolution No. 2015-31 modified the existing provisions governing the Emerging Leaders Council. Meetings are scheduled on the fourth Monday of each month at 6 p.m., City Hall - Council Chamber, 14177 Frederick Street. The City Council encourages all residents to apply for these positions. Applications are available on the City's website at moval.org and at the City Clerk's Department, located at 14177 Frederick St., Moreno Valley, during regular business hours (7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday). For further information, please call 951-413-3001. Applications must be received in the City Clerk's Department no later than 4:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 28.
