Alleged Murderer Arrested

On May 18th, 2014, at approximately 4:56 p.m., a Colton Police officer was flagged down by citizens in the 2000 block of East Washington Street in reference to a fight. Officers responded and detained a subject (Gomez) believed to be involved. Officers located a victim in front of a nearby business suffering from multiple stab wounds. Medical personnel were called to the scene and the victim was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he succumbed to his wounds. Colton Police Department detectives were called to take over the investigation. The San Bernardino County Scientific Investigations unit was requested to respond to the crime scene for processing of evidence. Gomez was interviewed and ultimately booked into the West Valley Detention Center on murder charges. The identification of the decedent is not being released at this time pending notification by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s office.
