ASAP Ministries Benefit Concert a Success

On May 31st, an ASAP Ministries Benefit concert was held at the Loma Linda Chinese SDA Church. The event was filled with many classical musicians such as, a young men’s group called “4ever Young”, a singer Helen Young, event host Jee Wong, and many more. Wong, a celebrated pianist, started playing piano at the age of three and absolutely fell in love with it. Although, he started as a violinist, his true passion was always the piano. His childhood was not the easiest; at the age of 9 he weighed about 180 pounds. He was made fun of throughout his school years for being bigger than his classmates. Music, therefore, was somewhat of an outlet for Wong. “Music was a refuge for me,” he shares. Not only was music something he would go hide away in; “it helped me communicate a lot of things.” Wong explains that songs of his that are just instrumental say and express a lot of his feelings as well as the songs with lyrics. In fact, “some of the instrumental songs are even deeper,” he explains. He played a handful of his songs on the piano, in which those were just instrumental. But, he also played the piano for the other singers like Helen Young and even “4ever Young”. Between songs, Wong would talk about God and the miracles he performs sharing, “God comes in many forms. He comes in the form of food for the hungry. He comes in the form of water to the thirsty.” Therefore, he came in the form of music to Wong.
