REDLANDS>> On the morning of Sunday, Oct. 2, the Sacred Heart Academy cheerleaders got ready to cheer for the Believe Walk in Redlands. The cheerleaders, including Abby, Claire, Amelie, Natalee, Madelyn, Madison, Sophia, Angelina and Victoria, arrived at 7:30 a.m. on the cool crisp Sunday morning. The team's cheer director, Sara Hector, brought the team together for the event. Previously, Hector organized a bake sale at the school to raise money for Team Freckles, a team that supports fellow second grade teacher and cancer survivor, Leanne Noble. At the Believe Walk, more than 10,000 people participated. "As we were cheering the walkers on, we noticed some people getting very emotional," said Madelyn and Madison. "Maybe they had lost someone in the fight against cancer. Most others were very determined and they looked even happier when they saw us cheering them on. We performed a lot of cheers and also did a cheer stunt called halves." Madison was the flyer, positioned at the top of the pyramid, and Madelyn, Sophia, Natalee and Victoria switched off with being bases at the bottom of the pyramid and as spotters. "Many people stopped by to take pictures of us performing the stunts and cheered us on as we cheered them back," they said. "All in all, this was an amazing experience for all of us. We hope that we will be able to do it again next year."
