LOMA LINDA>> During the Feb. 28 City Council meeting, the council accepted a couple of projects as substantially complete, including the installation of a prefabricated restroom at Hulda Crooks Park and the completion of Anderson Street pavement rehabilitation. On Oct. 11, 2016, the City Council awarded a $119,322 contract to Public Restroom Company, a company in Nevada, according to an official report from T. Jarb Thaipejr, City Manager and Public Works Director. According to the report, the contractor completed the final project within the budget. The restroom at Hulda Crooks Park, located at 11800 Mountain View Avenue in Loma Linda, features a restroom for men and women and also holds two drinking fountains. The project was included in the Capital Improvement Program Projects lists that was approved by city council and can serve the needs of park patrons who utilize the Loma Linda Hills trail system, dog park, basketball and tennis courts, according to a City of Loma Linda official report. The city had previously contracted with the company in 2008 to install a similar restroom at Bryn Mawr Veteran’s Memorial Park. During the council meeting, the council accepted the Anderson Street pavement rehabilition, which extends from Court Street to Stewart Street, as complete. On Nov. 8, 2016, the city council awarded a contract in the amount of $257,036 with an approved contingency amount of $56,000 to Matich Corporation for Anderson Street pavement rehabilitation. The final project cost was $292,306, exceeding the contract amount but staying within the contingency amount. The report states the additional cost was for labor and materials to install a necessary wheelchair ramp at the southeast corner of Anderson Street and Academy Way.
