Redlands High School Alum Keke Lyles has been quite a success since his high school days in Redlands. Recently Lyles, currently working for the Golden State Warriors, was honored with the 2015 National Basketball Association’s (NBA) Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Year Award. As the Director of Athletic Performance/Coach of Strength and Conditioning, Lyles, along with his performance staff, is responsible for creating impactful training programs and then applying them individually to each one of the players on the team; these individualized programs are to simply help maintain and better each player’s athletic performance. Immediately after high school, Lyles moved to Boston, where he attended Northeasterrn University. He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies and received his bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation science and his doctorate in physical therapy. During his time at Northeastern, he also served as the head Strength and Conditioning coach for the women’s basketball team for Northeastern University from 2008 to 2010 and the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach assisted with sports medicine for the men’s basketball team there from 2007 to 2010. Lyles took his first steps in the NBA as an intern with the Boston Celtics where he was able to work with their legendary athletic trainer Ed Lacerte, the longest-serving trainer with nearly 30 years on his plate. After that, Lyles went to the Indiana Pacers where he served as an assistant Strength and Conditioning coach. The last team he was with before joining the Golden State Warriors was the Minnesota Timberwolves. He joined them as the head Strength and Conditioning coach in late 2011. In 2013, he joined the Golden State Warriors, where he now serves as the Director of Athletic Performance/Strength and Conditioning Coach. This past season, not only did his team win the 2015 NBA Championship, but Lyles also took home a personalized trophy for himself as he was named the 2015 Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year Award.

A residence shows visible damage from flooding, mud and debris following severe winter storms that began Dec. 23, which brought heavy rain and debris flows to mountain and high desert communities across San Bernardino County. This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors approved recovery-related fee waivers to help eligible property owners repair and rebuild as response and long-term recovery efforts continue.

Photo Caption: Crime in San Bernardino has dropped by 30 percent or more throughout the city. One reason is that there are more officers on the streets. The Police Department’s goal is to have 350 sworn officers. Current full-time staffing is reported at 295 sworn officers and 156 professional staff.
