DA Finds Fatal Officer-Involved Death in Helendale Justified

The San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office has completed its review of the fatal officer-involved death of Steve Emery, 41, by San Bernardino County Sheriff Sgt. Robbie Ciolli, Deputies John Gice, Scott Hamilton and David Romeros and Detectives Dana Weinber and William Badger on Jan. 7, 2012. Under the facts, circumstances and the applicable law, the actions of law enforcement were appropriate and no criminal negligence attaches to the conduct of any officer.
