Job Fair of Opportunities

Weather did not deter a sizable turnout for the recent Way World Outreach job fair where companies like CRST, California Highway Patrol, California Conservation Corps, The Home Depot, and Wells Fargo came to reach out to local talent. GED opportunities were also available to the potential hires as well as offers to speak to probation agencies that would assist in job placement. As locals waited, the church's photographer/videographer got many to participate in doing the "wave". Other attendees took advantage of the opportunity to get extra information on how best to approach the employer's inside; one of the event coordinators, David, was giving valuable information as to how best to gain employment and how to best word his resume. David started off by stating “Honesty is the key. Lying is a defeated mindset. Have faith that you will get the job and it will be yours.” Among the job hopefuls, a gentleman named Wayne, 66, shared that he hasn’t had a permanent place of employment for over 5 years after working for the United States Postal Service for 20 years. Once inside the job fair applications and resumes were exchanged between employers and potential employees. Some of the participants were hired on the spot. It was evident to attendees why local job seekers said they preferred the job fairs put on by this employment ministry as opposed to other job fairs.
