Since its introduction to the city in only October last year, San Bernardino's Third Thursday Food Fest has continued to see success, so much so that the April event will now include nine food trucks. To reduce lines at the popular event, coordinators have brought in an extra food truck this month for the event, April 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the San Bernardino City Hall Court Street Parking Lot Between E and D streets. Last month's food truck fest brought nearly 2,000 hungry people to downtown San Bernardino for lunch, with the opportunity to satisfy every craving, savory or sweet. My Delight Cupcakery,a recurring favorite, returned last month with their award-winning Southern red velvet and popular carrot cake cupcakes, while vendors including The Grilled Cheese Truck, Piaggio, Crepes Bonaparte and Street Foods also offered their eats, with newcomers Belly Bombz, The Lobos Truck and Bratworks joined. Mindy Richardson, a Riverside food truck follower, attended San Bernardino's Third Thursday Food Truck Fest for the first time last month and found something she could gush about. "Best cupcakes ever," she said of My Delight Cupcakery. But she also found satisfaction in the wide variety of food choices. "Shrimp tacos from Street Foods Co are the bomb. I will definitely return to this event." Last month the San Bernardino Chapter of the Over the Hill Gang Car Club also brought entertainment to the venue, displaying a 1929 Ford Sedan owned by Steve Portias, who answered questions about the upcoming Great Race going through San Bernardino on June 27. In that event, 120 antique and vintage cars will make their way along historic Route 66 in an endurance rally spanning from Missouri to Santa Monica, making San Bernardino their last stop before the finish. The Third Thursday Food Truck event debuted six months ago to help revitalize the downtown area and is coordinated by the city's Community Development Department under Director Mark Persico, partnering with the San Bernardino Downtown Farmshare and Market. Vendors on April 16 are expected to include My Delight Cupcakery, Rialto-based Haute Burger, WTF Pizza, Belly Bombz, The Grilled Cheese Truck, The Greasy Wiener, The Lobos Truck and more.
