Mayor's Message: Local Jobs

By Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez, Mayor of Moreno Valley
August 17, 2021 at 05:56pm. Views: 62

Dear Moreno Valley Residents,

One of my top priorities is working to create good local jobs in Moreno Valley. I am aware that many residents commute to their places of employment, which may affect their quality of life. Traffic, stress, missing time with family, and health risks are just a few of the many impacts created by long commutes. The majority of our residents work outside of Moreno Valley's City limits. As Mayor, I will always work to try to fix this imbalance. The solution is simple; we need to create more local jobs.

I'm very proud of the work we have already done to create employment opportunities for residents, including initiatives such as the MoValWorkforce program, Hire MoVal<http://www.moval.org/hiremoval>, and MoVal Vendor Preference<http://www.moval.org/mvp> (MVP). The Moreno Valley community workforce agreement known as MoValWorkforce encourages contractors to hire tradespeople that reside in Moreno Valley for major City projects. Hire MoVal incentivizes local businesses to select Moreno Valley residents during the hiring process and features extended hiring programs for Veterans and recent graduates. The Moreno Valley Vendor Preference allows the City to give priority selection to local vendors and businesses for City bids on supplies and equipment. These programs promote local hiring and are only the beginning.

We have the tools, resources, and staff to help you find your next job.

We will keep moving forward until we reach Moreno Valley's full employment potential.
