SBVC Women’s Soccer: Torres, Sanchez & Arreola Sign Letters of Intent

SBVC Women’s Soccer goal keeper Vanessa Sanchez (Desert Hot Springs H.S.), forward Jenavee Arreola (San Jacinto H.S.) and midfielder Sheila Torres (Redlands East Valley) have all signed letters of intent to play for Texas A&M University–Texarkana next season. Torres, Sanchez and Arreola will join SBVC Women’s soccer alum forward Natalie Sevilla at Texas A&M University–Texarkana. Arreola participated in nine games this past fall, scoring five goals, four of which were against Cerro Coso and Torres participated in six contests in 2012. Sanchez participated in four games this past fall, playing 138:27 in goal for SBVC and had a Goals Against Average of 1.95 and a save percentage of .250. Under the tutelage of tenth-year coach Kristin Hauge, SBVC Women's Soccer won their fifth Foothill Conference Championship and made a seventh straight playoff appearance. The team finished the year with a 17-3-2 overall record and a 9-1 conference record. They were rewarded with a #3 seed in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. As a reward for their fifth Conference Championship, the team was bestowed with four first team All-Conference honors and four second team All-Conference honors. Texas A&M University–Texarkana is located in Texarkana, Texas, which is about 7 miles west of the Arkansas-Texas border. The TAMUT Eagles play at Eagles Field, and the team is coached by first-year coach, Steve Golas. According to the TAMUT website, “Athletic Director Michael Galvan announced in September, 2013, their intent to compete in Intercollegiate athletics, specifically women’s soccer and men’s and women’s tennis.” TAMUT is will compete as an Independent and will play in the NAIA.
